Moving Time - Tips That Everyone Needs To Do Before You Move To A New House

You got the boxes lined up to pack and the home bought, so what's next. If you don't tie up the loose ends before you move it could be a long time before you can enjoy your new home.

Many people always overlook the things that must be done. If these little things aren't done it will cause you a lot of heartache.

So let's see if we can help you get the little things done so the big thing enjoying your home will be come the experience you want it to be.

Forward Your Mail

Mail, mail and mail. Getting your change of address cards from the post office is the first step but definitely not the only step. It's best to get the change of address cards in the mail as early as possible. Now does this mean all your mail will be forwarded to your new address. Nope.

One thing I advise people is to call all the places ahead of time and give them your change of address. Credit card companies sometimes are very slow to change your address even if you call it in to them. You also can't be guarantee the post office will catch all the pieces of mail and get it to the right address.

With mail fraud and identity theft, you sure don't want to let your information fall into the wrong hands and cause you more expenses and heartache's

Another real important tip are the utilities when you leave your old home for the new one. Make sure you contact each utility and before you leave your old home everything is shut off. If not the utility company will come looking for you for the charges.

Even if you don't live there anymore its still your responsibility to make sure they are off. Some utility companies will do it for you but to be safe and not sorry it's always best to do it yourself so when you get a bill in the mail it's only for your new home, not one you don't live at anymore.

So if you follow these simple rules your transition from your old place to your new place should be a smooth one. It sometimes is a hassle to deal with these small problems but down the road you will be happy you did.

You may also want to give your new address to the neighbors on both sides of your old home. This way if someone ask for you, you can be contacted easily. You will be surprised at the amount of people that drop by looking for you after you move.

And you can enjoy your new home to its fullest knowing everything is taken care of. For more tips see our free moving tips page.
