Why use a Moving Blanket? To Save Yourself A Headache

Most people chose to be self-movers when they move from one home to another. But just because you’re doing the job yourself, doesn’t mean that you can’t do the job like a professional. Most professional’s recommend using moving blanket’s to protect larger items such as couches, chairs, tables, antiques, bed frames, mattresses, and other large household items.

Moving Blankets offer a consumer the best protection against harm, breakage, and damage. And in most situations, large boxes that can be purchased for these household items are awkward and very expensive. In most situations, a nice protective moving blanket will do the trick every time. Moving blankets are also less expensive that most boxes or other packing supplies, and most moving supply stores will allow you to rent moving blankets.

When looking for a good quality moving blanket, you may need to know a few things. First, they are different than just your average bed blanket. They are made of a heavy woven fabric, usually with padding between each layer. As with most items, there are various degrees of padding available, the premium moving blankets are very heavy duty and will protect antiques and expensive furniture during a move.

They are also great when storing furniture offering protection against environmental elements. The more economical blankets have less padding, usually lighter to carry and fold. They do, however, offer the customer great protection, as well.

Another option you may want to consider besides a moving blanket is moving pads. Moving pads are usually used for wrapping smaller and larger items. However, most moving pads are not recyclable, so when you purchase them- they’re yours to keep. Moving pads have been used for years at museums and other establishments that care for expensive and fragile items. However, recently, people have been purchasing these moving pads for their own personal use during a move. These pads are very durable and come in a variety of shapes and sizes.

Most are made from a poly/cotton blend, with padded binding and double stitching to ensure a sturdy product. Rather you choose to use a moving blanket or a moving pad when packing your belongings, keep in mind that most items will need to be protected with one or the other. It’s very expensive to replace household items in any given situation.

The best way to move is to prepare for it in advance.
